Overview:

"To catch a thief..." starts the old saying and when Clan Jade Falcon hit the ARDC during the Federated Commonwealth Civil War they brought a thief to do just that. The Gremlin was unknown to the Inner sphere until the ARDC incursion brought holovids of the small squat mech in action. The little mech was dubbed gremlin for it's over sized forearms, demon like legs and hunched appearance. The ARDC incursion also brought a shift in tactics for which the Gremlin seemed too well suited. The mech seemingly had the ability to appear out of no where hitting and then disappearing which only adding to the ethereal like qualities of the Gremlin. Only when the allied forces hit clan Jade Falcon did the Inner sphere engineers get a chance to pick one a part for study.

Capabilities:

Named for the foul tempered gnome that has a penchant for fouling machinery the mech is aptly named. A large 280 extra light engine gives the thirty five ton mech the ability to hit speeds of just over 168 km/h. Augmenting this speed is a MASC system which allows the Gremlin pilot a burst of speed over 172 km/h in chasing down prey or running from heavier mechs. While the speed of the Gremlin marks it as an oddity in Clan Jade Falcon forces, the Gremlin's 240 meter jump capacity cinches the mechs place in oddity status.

Usually a mech with such speed and jump capacity has poor armor and armaments. However, clan Jade Falcon engineers worked with some of their best technologies to give the Gremlin a heavy hit and excellent armor. Weaponry for the Gremlin is a single heavy hitting Franciscan Monks Inc laser. While the heavy laser can strip a little over a ton of armor from a enemy mech it is inaccurate. To make up for the lasers inherit inaccuracy the engineers gave the Gremlin a targeting computer. Seven tons of standard armor gives the Gremlin ninety four percent of its theoretical maximum armor allowing for some battle damage before having to retreat. Augmenting the armor is a full electronics suite featuring both an active probe system and a full ECM suite.

No known variants of the Gremlin are in existence.

Deployment

Current disposition of the Gremlin is uncertain. At least three stars were operating with front line Jade Falcon forces during their incursion into ARDC space. If the stars spotted during the ARDC incursion are the only Gremlins available to the Falcons is unknown at this time.
